Which FreshTomato for RT-N66U?

Going to switch to FreshTomato from Toastman. For Toastman use "RT-AC," version, not sure if should do same for FreshTomato/ Shibby line of builds...

Is a long-running firewall script a problem?

My firewall script fetches a script from a web server (to do some blocking of IPs that the web server has determined are causing trouble). There may be cases where the web server isn't running yet when the router is booting, and so my firewall script has a loop that checks for a response from the web server, and sleeps for a bit if it's not found.

If the web server crashed for some reason, my firewall script might loop for a very long time. Is this a problem? Does anything in Tomato block...

Is a long-running firewall script a problem?

I wanted to configure a wireless ethernet bridge connection between 2x Asus RT-N18U routers, but it was success only for a short time.

Primary router:
- Firmware: FreshTomato 2019.4
- IP address: 172.16.1.254/24, DHCP enabled
- Wireless mode: AP
- Wireless Network Mode: Auto
- SSID broadcast: yes
- Channel: 1, width: 20MHz
- Security: WPA2 Personal, AES
- Wireless filter: on, the MAC of secondary router is in the list
- Advanced - Routing - Misc. - Mode: Gateway

Need stubby configuration help

Using the built in config file in FreshTomato 2019.2. At the site 1.1.1.1/help it reports 'NO' for DNS over TLS. It also fails a couple of tests at https://cmdns.dev.dns-oarc.net/ (sorry can't remember which ones). How can I fix these?

Here is the default stubby.yml file

Hi guys,

I replaced my old tomato-shibby to the last stable FreshTomato (FreshTomato Firmware 2019.3 MIPSR2 K26AC USB AIO-64K)
But the ssh deamon does not start on FreshTomato.
I tried to find the logs but I wasn't able to find it.

Anyone would help me? Where is the log?

Hello is there a way to "edit" the TLS Settings for DNS over TLS?

In the Old Builds i use a stubby file but in the new Version it does not work anymore:

FreshTomato 2019.3 on Asus RT-AC66U - ssh Daemon doesn't start

Hi guys,

I replaced my old tomato-shibby to the last stable FreshTomato (FreshTomato Firmware 2019.3 MIPSR2 K26AC USB AIO-64K)
But the ssh deamon does not start on FreshTomato.
When I try to start no message is shown.
I tried to find the logs but I wasn't able to find it.

Anyone would help me? Where is the log?

Is it Possible to do this "DNS over TLS and TOR" with Tomato. I found a Github Guid to set this up with Pi Hole. Here is the Link:

Netgear R7000
FW:
FreshTomato Firmware 2019.4 K26ARM USB AIO-64K <- Not Working
FreshTomato Firmware 2019.3 K26ARM USB AIO-64K <- With this Version my Scrip is working :)

With Version 2019.3 i used a Script to change the DNS/TLS Server with the Build in Stubby Client. With the Upgrade to Version 2019.4 this stopped working. The Copy job from the Script is working fine with Version 2019.3 but with 2019.4 i have no Nameserver Resolution.

In the Log is no Error Message :(

Band Steering

Hi!

i have installed the newest Tomato Firmware on my Netgear R7000 Router. I only use the router as an access point. On the netgear firmware it was possible to enable a feature named "smart connect". This feature makes band steering and it was possible to use 2,4GhZ and 5GhZ under the same SSID.

Is it also possible to configure band steering under Tomato Firmware?

FreshTomato 2019.3: DNS server is not updated when connecting to VPN

Since the version 2019.3 the DNS server is not updated when I connect to the VPN as a client1. I suspect that the problem could be somewhere in updown.sh .

On the "old" version FreshTomato 2019.2 the single file "client1.resolv" is in the folder "/etc/openvpn/dns" after connecting to VPN.

In FreshTomato 2019.3, there are two file with the names "resolv.conf" and "resolv.dnsmasq".

As in the script updown.sh we have

Hello All (this query was also posted in MyOpenrouter Forums)

I very recently obtained a R7000 to which I immediately flashed AdvancedTomato 3.4-1.38 (tomato-R7000-AT-ARM-3.4-138-AIO-64K.trx).

First time configuring a dual-channel equipment, so the installation was not as smooth as I hoped, mainly due to my own ignorances.

After a few hours, I finally settled on a modestly-working setup, WAN dialing up PPPoE with my NAS and mostly iDevices (iphone, ipads and macs) happily...

I recently replaced the old Tomato Shibby firmware by the last "freshtomato-RT-AC66U_RT-AC6x-2019.4-AIO-64K" firmware on my RT-AC66U (MIPS). With the same parameters as previously, the PPPoE DSL connection with my bridged modem does not work (no IP Address from the ISP, no Gateway).
I then tried several previous FreshTomato firmware, only the 1st FreshTomato version 2018.1.066-beta works, but the following ones do not work: 2018.3.106-beta, 2018.4, 2018.5, 2019.3 and 2019.4. They have the...

Best way to flash CFE in Tomato

To flash CFE (bootloader) on an R7000 or DIR-868L, in the past I have switched to another firmware and then after flashing the CFE gone back to Tomato. The reason is that the libraries needed for the flash don't appear to exist in Tomato. I have used "./mtd-write -i new-cfe.bin -d boot" with mtd-write on a flash drive to flash on the R7000. What commands exist in Tomato natively to allow CFE flash?

About feee memory and VLAN settings in FreshTomato

Hi, I'm having linksys wrt54gl v1.1 and wonder over total memory shown in status > overview
With fresh Shibby 2.6 #140 I got total 12.77 mb , ~5.7 mb free
With latest 2.4 Toastman I got total 14.04 mb, ~9 mb free
With fresh Freshtomato 2019.4 mini I got total ~13 mb, ~6 mb free

The specs say it has 16 mb chip, so why the difference in total mem between flavors ?

I have an asus rt-ac68u (first rev) 800mhz. Is it worth upgrading to r7000? I use QOS and game alot, girlfriend is watching youtube stuff. Is it worth to the 1000mhz? Is the r7000 stable? Will it improve anything?
